Teachers oppose Oakland's gang injunction

Youth Radio's report on community dissent over Oakland's gang injunction aimed at members of the Norteño gang ran in the Huffington Post. Among the opposition is the Oakland Educators Association - the local teacher's union - which objected especially to the injunction's lack of protection for young people. Advocates from Homies Empowered want to see the city invest in new opportunities for young people, not more punishments. The City Attorney’s office insists that Oakland needs both.
