Seeing the damage: One gang member's decision to become a positive leader

Richmond Pulse's Nancy Ybarra produced this video about Bay Area Peacekeepers, a street violence prevention program. Co-Founder Gonzalo Rucobo turned away from gang involvement when he realized other kids were beginning to look up to him and follow in his footsteps. Now he works to inspire young people to make positive decisions for themselves. While BAP started just in one neighborhood, they extended their reach when they realized that just talking to kids in one neighborhood didn't make an impact when youth on competing turf weren't being similarly mentored and supported.[vimeo=http://vimeo.com/24583744 &w=320&h=240]
