With voting comes change: Boyle Heights is a gap in political map

Boyle Heights residents are under-voting: In 2008 – a presidential election with record highs in voter participation nationally – only a third of registered voters actually went to the polls. The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO)  targets Latino communities like East L.A. and Boyle Heights because they have large, untapped pools of eligible Latino voters.  Read what's being done about low turnout, on the Boyle Heights Beat.
