LGBT anti-bullying efforts may ‘fall through the cracks’ due to budget cuts

Due to an increase in reported cases of bullying aimed at gay, lesbian, and gender-nonconforming youth, California’s AB 9, A Safe Place to Learn Act, required schools to update bullying policies to specifically include issues of “sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression.”  But Long Beach-area school districts have been criticized for “ignoring” the policy deadline.
