Fresno Unified students aim to remake school discipline

To turn around what they call a high school dropout "epidemic" in Fresno, a youth team called SUCCESS (Students United to Create a Climate of Engagement Support and Safety), conducted research to gauge youth perception about the school system.  They discovered an unfortunate consensus: Youth felt that Fresno Unified’s school discipline practices and policies are a significant impediment to their progress both academically and socially.  The group advocate bringing restorative justice, "an alternative to the no-tolerance policies that use suspension and expulsion to discipline kids," to Fresno Unified.  Read the full story as it appears on the Fresno Bee and The Know.
