April is sexual assault awareness month

A string of tragic stories haunted the news this month, adding to a toll of young rape victims remaining mostly in the shadows.  Naming April "Sexual Assault Awareness Month" points us to the challenge of increasing the right kind of public awareness of sexual assault -- so that community action begins to replace private shame.
