Suspended freshmen less likely to graduate

If the purpose of discipline is to "scare them straight," the tactic of suspension has failed.  Rather than deterring students from certain behaviors and driving them to pay attention to school, research shows that suspension has the opposite effect: even one suspension during freshman year signals a higher chance that the student will not graduate.  The report is from Youth Radio.grad
