Mental health matters: a story about bullying
Amanda Bencomo’s first memory of being bullied is from fifth grade. She wore used clothing, she recalls, and was a little chubby. The bullying continued as she became something of a tomboy in high school and, after suffering the mental health effects of bullying, Bencomo became an active volunteer in her high school’s Peace 90805 club. “What keeps me from falling back into that (emotional state) is focusing on school and clubs. I know this isn’t forever, so I need to not focus on the negative and look to the future.” Read the story on Voicewaves.
