Greenfield youth and families want their parks back

Residents of Greenfield, a neighborhood in southeast Bakersfield, disturbed by the broken glass and cigarette and cigar butts littering play areas in Rexland Acres Park, have organize a “take back” of the park.  They say the presence of families in the park is being replaced by gangs.  A group of youth organizers are at the forefront of the effort, and were among the first to identify the issue publicly.  Read about it on South Kern Sol.park
