Girl Scouts learn the value of serving their community
A Girl Scout troop is growing in Ramona Gardens, part of a citywide effort to build up low-income communities and direct social resources to kids in targeted areas. The L.A. Police Department is sponsoring the group; city leaders are trying to garner trust between residents and police. One local officer overseeing the group says Girl Scouts “teaches them values they are going to need to succeed in this world and that normally they wouldn’t have in a community like Ramona Gardens.” Read more on Boyle Heights Beat.
