Altar-making helps heal Ramona Gardens residents

A workshop at the Ramona Gardens Community Center offers a place for self-expression through a traditional Mexican art form: constructing personal altars.  Some use the craft to process problems in their lives, and others take a more religious and community perspective.  “I learn that everyone has a story and has something to share. It is a connection that opens the mind and spirit, which tells me there is much more for me to learn.”  Read more about how residents use altar-making for community connection, on Boyle Heights Beat.altar
