Families, politicians push for improvements at Evergreen Cemetery

At 136 years old, Evergreen is the oldest cemetery in Los Angeles.  Residents and city leaders are pushing an effort to restore the site to a green space not only for the aggrieved but for locals who want an open space to walk or gather.  The cemetery's defective lawn-watering system even led one local politician to dub it "Never green."  “I think it’s not only the disrespect of the dead, but the disrespect of the community.”  Read more on Boyle Heights Beat.evergreen-2-e1395684822537
