Promotoras emerge as health backbone of Ramona Gardens

The term promotoras usually refers to Latino community members who are trained to provide basic health education for their neighbors. After the death in police custody of a young Ramona Gardens resident presumed to be part of a gang, five local mothers organized to keep local children off the streets.
