Breakdancers thrive in new home
The Boyle Heights Breakers, a group of young adults from different neighborhoods in Los Angeles, offers youth an outlet for expression and an alternative to hanging out on the streets. Dancers have struggled to find a place to practice and perform - the County Sheriff recently put an end to dancers' practicing on an ideal public stage at the Metro station at Mariachi Plaza. But the Boyle Heights Youth Technology Center has given breakdance a new home. “There’s a lot of gang activity in Boyle Heights, so it’s an alternative.
