Searching for reasons behind segregation at Berkeley High

Sophie Varon, a student at a large and racially diverse high school, thinks Berkeley High's “Small School” divisions are the root of the segregation on campus. The system enrolls students in different programs, setting them on fundamentally different academic tracks. "My school district takes pride in the fact that it was one of the first school districts to voluntarily desegregate in 1968.
