Fewer felonies could mean more funding for schools

California's Proposition 47, also called the “Safe Neighborhoods and Schools Initiative,” aims to decrease sentences for non-violent felony offenders, charging them instead with misdemeanors.  Supporters say the savings earned by diverting people from prison can be used for neighborhood schools and safety.
