The push to register young voters

Youth are a powerful voting bloc - but that power is often unharnessed. They are less likely to vote than other age groups. A local group is hoping to change that trend within Richmond by reaching out to unregistered residents on September 23rd, National Voter Registration Day. The nationwide campaign coordinates volunteers and organizations to engage youth and facilitate the registration process for potential voters. Part of that engagement is convincing youth that they have a say in decisions that affect their communities.“I would say events like Ferguson have made me think about politics a lot more. If the community really had a strong say in what happens in their community, things like this would be avoided.” The story is on Richmond Pulse.vote
