Through the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Act (DACA), President Obama granted certain foreign-born residents, mostly young people, temporary legal residency, giving hundreds of thousands of children born to immigrants the right to work, go to college, and receive financial aid. California leads the nation in applications, but even here there are places where the information and resources needed to apply for DACA aren't readily available. But Lisbeth, 17, says it's worth the work. "My heart began pumping fast as I read: “You got accepted. Your DACA Employment Authorization Card card will be sent in 30 days.” It felt like a huge weight off my shoulders!
