'Agua 4 All' in Kern County
Residents from Arvin to Lamont have endured years of scarcity of clean drinking water, mostly due to the high levels of arsenic and a lack of proper sanitation infrastructure. But a new initiative has launched to help locals get clean drinking water at several filling stations throughout the community. The initiative is opening 120 taps in two pilot locations - South Kern and Coachella Valley. “People have known this and have conformed to the reality of paying a water bill and then paying more for water you can actually drink. We want to bring safe water dispensers to the areas that need it the most. It’s the poorest residents who have to pay double for water.” The full story is on South Kern Sol.
