Charter school recruits students from Eastside communities

A high school that guarantees graduation and entry into a four-year college: that’s what's being offered the parents of eighth graders last week, as a recruiter pitched potential applicants for a new Eastside campus of the USC Hybrid High School. The recruiter stressed that it was important to the school that students from the Eastside communities like Boyle Heights have first crack at its classrooms. “We really feel that’s an underserved area and we feel that these kids could really benefit. It’s a life-changing experience for the kids, and it’s an opportunity that they might not otherwise have. We don’t know of an other school nearby that can prepare them for the university the way this school will.” Read more about plans for a new school for Boyle Heights youth, on Boyle Heights Beat.usc
