Transitional home opens to women post-incarceration

The Naomi House in North Richmond is the two-unit housing component of Reach, a one-year transitional program for recently incarcerated women and their children. The Reach program aids single women in reuniting with family, finding jobs and permanent housing, and gives other supports during the unstable period following reentry into society after prison. One of the program’s founders, Dr. Edwina Perez-Santiago, was formerly incarcerated herself. She said Reach intends to help women find services and support in a safe environment – but also gives them the opportunity to connect with and support other women. “We are saying women matter and that we want to work with you to make sure that you live a productive life, and that’s what this project is about.” More about Naomi’s House, on Richmond Pulse.
