Long Beach prepares to meet state water restrictions

In response to California’s drought, many of the city’s public green spaces, including parks, campuses and lawns, are being converted from water-hogging designs to drought-tolerant landscapes. The push to cut water use comes as water agencies and Governor Jerry Brown issued water reduction mandates to municipalities across the state. Some lament the potential loss of real green grass, but others take a more long term approach. “To be damned with the aesthetics.
