A tale of two schools

Fresno High School student Zyanna Maynard enrolled this year at the Center of Advanced Research and Technology, or CART, a program that combines rigorous academics with career and technical learning. Students in CART split their school days between there and their home school, which Zyanna says highlights the difference in environment. "[CART] treats its students with respect, like the young adults and budding professionals that they are... At my home school, students are more often than not treated like children, instead of like aspiring professionals. Because of that the students show less respect to teachers, and learning suffers." Her commentary is on The Know.
