Teen wonders how to move forward after a week of violence

Videos and images of black men being killed in police shootings have become heartbreakingly commonplace. Youth Radio reporter Soraya Shockley said that, as a black person, it is difficult to know what to do with these tragic images. And she said it is hard to move through day-to-day life when America is breaking its promise to be a free and equal society. "How is it that I keep on getting tricked into believing that I am part of that society and not an ‘other’ in that society?" Shockley's essay, also featured on NPR's Weekend All Things Considered, is at Youth Radio.
