Homelessness is one of the most challenging experiences a person can endure, and the lack of resources during the pandemic makes things all the more difficult. Women in particular face increased violence, and without temporary housing, living without a home can be life-threatening. “One lady [who] used to stay across from the train tracks next to the soup kitchens was killed. As a matter of fact, several women have been killed during this pandemic,” said Crystal Bofferd, a woman living in a homeless encampment underneath a Richmond overpass.
