Up in Smoke

Up in Smoke by Angel Gomez and Macks Fleming is a short film that takes a look at the history of one of San Diego's oldest neighborhoods, Barrio Logan, and the impact of industrialization from the vantage point of members of the community. Up in Smoke takes a look at how industrialization began as an opportunity for neighborhood residents to embrace the American dream and over time began to create an American nightmare. Featuring a local resident and business owner this 2023 short documentary amplifies the cries from the community to take a deeper look at whether or not industry is helping or hurting those it aims to serve!
