View from the border: My mother hid a family from border patrol
Michael Klein's 7th graders at High Tech Middle School in Chula Vista, California just completed a digital storytelling project about how the US-Mexico border affects them and their communities. The class can literally see the border from their classroom. Students interviewed undocumented family members about the perils of crossing, border patrol agents about the challenges they face, and each other about the deaths of close friends in the senseless drug-cartel related violence just across the border. One student, Salma, interviewed her mother, Alma, who moved to California from Mexico. Alma helped hide an undocumented family from the border patrol. Listen on Youth Radio.
