Knowledge is power: a young person's lesson in local government

This summer the Long Beach Coalition for Good Jobs & A Healthy Community held workshops to educate community members about the workings of local government.  It was a needed push to get youth informed and even involved in city and neighborhood politics.  "Myself, along with many youth in the community, are unaware of what goes on in [local] government.  How does that lack of knowledge affect engagement?
