My story resonated, I felt empowered

Myles Bess didn’t know what to expect when he arrived at the state assembly’s select committee to discuss the status of men and boys of color in California.  He found himself in a ballroom with a big, diverse group, many of whom had similar stories. Education was a key theme, and Myles discussed how his school did not offer the curriculum and other support with which he felt he could thrive.  The discussion groups happening there gave him a chance to speak about the changes he wants to see in his community, and to discover common goals with other young men of color. Read the story on Youth Radio.MylesB1
