South Kern parents voice school funding priorities

A large group of parents and their children crowded into an elementary school cafeteria last month to make their voices heard in the growing debate over how area school districts should be spending their state education dollars. Parents and school officials made points and counterpoints, with parents expressing a widespread frustration that these forums are held in the middle of the day, rather than a weeknight or weekend when they did not have to work. “Often people simply don’t have time — if you’re a single mother you simply don’t have time to be involved.”  Read the full story on South Kern Sol.
