Bullying made me change schools - it could have been different

High school student Asia Foster writes about being bullied at a Central Unified middle school, and about the postivie change she saw when she went to school in a different district.  A school's approach to discipline can have a profound impact on students and the campus culture. "In retrospect, I don’t think we would have fought if we’d had a chance to speak to each other directly with a counselor or some other person in the room to mediate. I realize that most people who bully were either bullied themselves or have other hardships in their life, and I think I could have worked it out with her if there were someone there to facilitate the conversation." Her story is on The Know.
