Building parental leadership in funding talks

The most recent of many events to push for meaningful community participation in school budget decisions, a Merced workshop attracted dozens of parents eager to find out how to make an impact on the Local Control Funding Formula. Attendees brainstormed about outreach strategies to grow community engagement in the implementation of LCFF, the landmark 2013 education law that boosted funding into school districts with more English-language learners, foster youth, and other needy students. "A culture shifts needs to occur in order to build leadership opportunities for parents." Read the full story on We'Ced.lcff
