After SCOTUS victory, the fight is far from over

Merced College student Jacqueline Hernandez explains why, even after the Supreme Court ruled that marriage is a constitutional right for same sex couples, there is still much work to do. Being gay in a homophobic culture is only one factor in her experience of discrimination – she knows that, for other minorities, marriage is the least of their problems. "I have to question, as a queer Chicana, is being able to marry my partner my biggest problem? No, it’s not... There are police officers who profile of people of color in certain sides of town. Street harassment against women of all ages and gender identities is common." Read her commentary on We'Ced.gay
