When Chando Kem applied for Deferred Action for Child Arrivals (DACA), he got a social security number and a permit to work. But one aspect of his new status has direct bearing on his dating life — currently free from the threat of deportation, Kem doesn’t have to bug his friends for rides anymore. His standard California driver’s license doesn't have a stamp saying "Federal Limits Apply," which marked him as undocumented. "I can commute wherever I want, whenever I want. Prior to DACA, I felt a stigma. Especially when you’re in the dating stage, I don’t really tell people, ‘Hey, I’m undocumented.'" That story is on Voicewaves.
