Unaccompanied siblings trade home for a new life

At age 19, Skarlett moved with her two younger siblings from Mexico back to San Francisco where they were born. Leaving their mother and family behind, Skarlett took on a parental role with her siblings. Skarlett reflects on how they made the move to access opportunities in the United States, like public education. It has not been easy. "Back in Mexico, I was just a teenager."
