Unhoused CSULB Students Face Challenges Accessing Food, Financial Assistance During Pandemic
Being an unhoused college student is hard enough, but the added challenge of the pandemic makes accessing things like food and financial aid all the more difficult. “This pandemic has hit everyone, all people in some way or another, dramatically,” said Rashada Crutchfield, assistant professor at the Cal State University Long Beach School of Social Work. “Particularly for students who experience homelessness, I would say that a lot of those students were relying on the campus as an anchor, as a place where they had some stability and we lost that stability.” Read more about how California colleges are supporting unhoused students at VoiceWaves.
