Vaccination Efforts Target The Latino Community, But Not Everyone Is On Board

California is kicking its COVID vaccine initiative into high gear, but not all residents trust the new immunization. Vaccine rates within the Latino community are especially low, a fact many health professionals find alarming given that Latino men have the highest COVID-19 mortality rate. “We encourage individuals who see information or hear information from friends, from family, from social media posts, to not just believe them automatically,” said Dr. Eloisa Gonzalez with the LAC+USC Hospital in Boyle Heights and the L.A. County Dept of Public Health. “These messages often are not based in science, so just have a little bit of a degree of skepticism about what you hear from sources that are not official sources.” Read more at Boyle Heights Beat.
