Useful products, dangerous toxins

Cleaning and beauty products, food pesticides, and other chemicals that we come into direct exposure with can carry significant health risks when used over time. Chemicals in cleaning products leave residue that then penetrates carpets and furniture.  Children are especially vulnerable because they crawl around on ground surfaces and put things into their mouths; this, along with developing organ systems, puts them at special risk. Many of these toxins can lead to allergic reactions, an increased probability of asthma and other respiratory problems.  More information from scientists, in a story on Coachella Unincorporated.
